Reviews

Well worth it to see so much of the Sandakan area in 1 Day

Unfortunately, the Orangutan Rehab center closed unexpectedly the week we were there, so the tour company substituted the Rainforest discovery center (RDC) instead. While we were disappointed at not seeing the orangutans, the tour was excellent and our guide (Azman?) was friendly and knowledgeable. It was nice to see sun bears foraging around their habitat, and the proboscis monkeys were interesting and entertaining to watch as they came for their meal. We got up close with a few short tailed macaques at the RDC as we experienced the forest from the canopy walk, suspension bridge and on the ground. The city tour was interesting too, especially the view from the Puu Jih Shih temple, and the Sim Sim floating village.

Have book this tour many months in advance for one pax for €107! Arrive just night before the morning tour, have very stressful day because my flight was cancelled, all day waiting in Singapore airport but at the end got another flight&finally arrive in sandakan!Anyway arrive in Sandakan hotel 10:30 pm. When I connect my phone to wifi receive a email my tour was cancelled because there is no second person! Spend over €1000 just go to sandakan for 5 days then this?

I did not take this specific tour but we did take another tour to see the Labuk Bay Proboscis monkeys. I think I enjoyed them even more then the Orangtan visit. The proboscis monkeys are really facsinating and so unusual. A true delight to watch
Silver Monkeys and Proboscis Monkeys

We came to the Proboscis Monkey Centre in time for the feeding, whilst there were no Proboscis around, there were a troupe of sleepy Silver Monkeys around the platforms.

The guides placed some bits of food on to the feeding platforms and made some monkey calls and eventually they came, we could see them coming through the trees, the young came out first then some of the older females followed by the big male.

It was interesting to witness the hierarchy within the troupe.

Well Organised and Enjoyable

Just done exactly as advertised with a comfortable vehicle and polite and informative guide. We were never rushed and could spend a little extra time at places when we wished to. An enjoyable day.
