We really enjoyed our time with James! He was very patient, accommodating, and courteous. We chose to go to the northwest side of the island to see the fruit farm and Batu Ferringhi. Our intention was also to go to the spice garden and butterfly farm, of which we did quick drive-bys and found to not be worth it. James was totally cool with us checking them out and then deciding against.
We therefore had some more time, and went to the Air Itam region, where we visited Kek Lok Si Temple. After walking around a bit, it started to get late, and we began to worry that we were taking too much of James' time. But his interest was only in us enjoying ourselves, and he was still willing to do whatever we wanted!
We then decided to get something to eat, and mentioned that we wanted to try some good nasi lemak. James got very excited at this, and took us to the Curry Mee Reservoir Hawker Center. He helped us find the vendor, and find other dishes like prawn noodles and nasi kandar. All were spectacular! I loved the fried chicken that came with the nasi kandar, which was of the most memorable foods of our entire trip. Afterwards we tried to go to the cool Cendol cart (not the famous one you've been hearing about), but just missed them. James dropped us off at the hotel, and showed us a way to get a Grab delivery from another good place that was still open.
Hiring a driver like James is the best and most affordable way to cover a good part of the island. We would otherwise have paid per person, and with three of us, that would not have been economical, nor would we have the flexibility or personal attention. While James is not a tour guide, it was nice to have one on one conversations with him, and understand what it's like to live in Penang and the country of Malaysia.

James was more than accommodating for a non standard tour. Took us around the island and also to some non-touristy places. James was a great driver and host. We were specifically looking for future living locations and James was knowledgable and gave us good information on the areas we looked at.

Jimmy was an awesome driver and guide. He was early and waiting for us and we had a fantastic time. In addition to the places we wanted to see, he suggested other sites off the beaten tourist track that were great. He was kind, professional and knowledgeable and you couldn't ask for a better time. There was no way we could have seen all that we did without him. Highly recommend him.

James is an exceptional driver and tour guide. Excellent communication, punctual (actually arrived earlier than scheduled pick up time) and courteous service. He was patient and flexible as we made changes to our itinerary throughout the day. He is knowledgeable and provided us insight to Malaysian culture and way of life. We asked him to return the next day to take us to the airport. Highly recommend James if you are looking for a customized tour of Penang.

We hired James to give us a full day, “non-touristy” tour of Penang. We requested to see some natural scenery, local kampung life, and old buildings. James took us around the island, and showed us some great locations, which we could never have found ourselves. His car was spacious and spotless, and he is a very safe driver. James spoke excellent English, and was very knowledgeable about the island and it’s people. We had a wonderful day, exactly what we were seeking. I would highly recommend James, and will rehire him on our next visit.
