Bukit Melawati
Silver-Leafed Monkeys - and long-tailed macaques are the main draw to the Melawati Hill. The significant difference between the silver-leafed babies as compared to the adults is that these babies have golden fur while the adults have dull grey colours. These monkeys are a delight; they are gentle and playful. The long-tailed macaques, on the other hand, are generally a little more mischievous and if you turn your back for a second - you'd never know what they might do. A gentle reminder to exercise precautions with these lovely and wild animals, which can be quite erratic at times despite having so much human interaction.

Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park
Firefly Tour - Proceed to Kuala Selangor town in the quiet hamlet of Kampung Kuantan, which is known as one of the largest firefly colonies in the world. On arrival at Kuala Selangor, visit 'Kota Melawati' formerly known as 'Fort Altingsburg', its colonial buildings, silvered-leaf monkeys, butterflies and etc. To make this experience a memorable and unforgettable one, enjoy local Set Seafood Dinner and boat ride.

Fireflies - are also called “Lightning Bugs” and they belong to the nocturnal luminous beetle family Lampyridae. Within quiet and serene surroundings, these fireflies live very happily in the “Berembang” trees and shine like fire in the night to attract a mate. Come on down and enjoy the “Malaysian Version of Xmas”!

This was without doubt the highlight of our trip to KL.
We were very fortunate to have a fantastic guide called VJ who was kind, helpful and informative and really went out of his way to make this a special day. His English was also perfect and very clear.
We saw the wonderful Batu Caves and temples, visited a pewter factory, Hot water springs, Monkeys and fireflies with a wonderful meal in a great local restaurant over looking the river.
Highly recommended

Again we had a great guide who took us for a half day tour, first the caves which are really amazing and the steps to get there not as bad as everyone says, just watch out for the little monkeys who can be quite cheeky.
Caves offer great views inside and out.
We also had the opportunity to see how the local materials are made which was quite fascinating.
The silver leave eating monkeys are very cool and amazingly tame around people.

The trip out to the seafood restaurant along the river is very enjoyable and the seafood dinner even more so.
Three different types of seafood and all very tasty!!

The only let down was the fireflies, not seeing them of course thats always amazing, just the large groups of people on long outboard boats which wasn't what we had in mind.....
Fantastic experience

Went with our children (9 and 11rs) we all really enjoyed the tour. The monkeys and fireflies were the favourites. The guy driving the boat for the firefies was great as he got up really close to the trees and made it a very special experience.

Points to note - the car journey was long, but worth it so be prepared with water. Also it would have been nice to have a bit more explanation/information at the caves as well as the other places we visited.
