Penang street tour with young kids

We had a great guide who tailored a walking tour to fit our needs, including seeing things that would interest the kids and making sure they found lots of snacks that appealed to them. Highlight recommend this company!
Highly Recommended Tour

I have taken a number of Walking Tours but this tour was one of the best !

Mark was very punctual, knowledgeable about the history of Penang and he knew what to recommend as to the different ethnic cuisines.

It turned out that our tour was small and that made it even better as Mark was accommodating to make few changes here and there.

The food was fantastic with local Indian, Malay/Indian and Chinese. He ordered just the right amount for us and I enjoyed all the dishes.

The story of how he grew up in a certain neighborhood and the family history was also enlightening as he explained Penang's very colorful history.

If you plan a trip to Penang or have been here but not taken Mark's tour, I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Penang. I took a friend who has lived here for six years and even he was amazed and pleased with Mark's tour.
Great way to spend a morning in Penang!

Mark is an intelligent and kind host. We loved that this was more than a food tour- he showed us clan houses and took us inside a temple and explained rituals to us. My 12-year old son felt comfortable enough with to ask him questions. We all enjoyed the tour and the food and we can highly recommend this tour.
An Exceptional and Memorable Experience in Penang!

Axiata Group organised a forum from 15 to 17 October 2019 in Penang, Malaysia with over 50 participants from all its markets across ASEAN and South Asia and engaged Mark Ng from Simply Enak to provide an experiential tour of Penang that will lend our participants an insightful and unique view of Penang’s heritage, culture, people and food that speaks of the island’s diversity and epic historical significance.

We had lofty expectations and are happy to record that Mark showed us the best of Penang, and how the local cuisine is an integral and complex part of the unique heritage of Penang. Furthermore, Mark also took it upon himself to go beyond his scope to engage with the participants to see to their every need, staying sensitive to their various specific dietary requirements. Upon our request, he also engaged a professional photographer and a supplier of Malaysian traditional costumes so that the team could have a traditional Malaysian themed group photo.

We thank Mark for an exceptional and memorable experience, and for his patience, professionalism and attention to detail. We look forward to the opportunity to work with Simply Enak in the future as we are grateful he took on the load of organisation details and worked hard to ensure our participants fell in love with the island as we have.

It is with pleasure that we strongly recommend Simply Enak for this.

Decent, but no value for money

The guide was thoughtful enough to tailor the tour for us as we didnt want Indian food, so we got to sample Char Kway Teow, Laksa and Chendol. That said, for what we paid, we didnt feel we ate enough varieties of food. The history walk was interesting and he had some interesting anecdotes. Overall ok, but we have experienced better in other parts of the world.
